Grepolis 2 bot – The future

Back in 2010 this all started as a small project for fun, the game was still at version 1 at that time (link). The only feature the bot had back then was a building queue. When the bot become more popular I decided to make one for Grepolis 2 as well, which was released in 2011.

Old building queue gui

Starting from the Grepolis 2 release many new features were added, resulting in a nice list of features, automating all the boring/time consuming tasks for us πŸ™‚

It has been a very fun project to work on but it is almost time to move on. I’ll have finished my university later this year (+/- 3 months) and after that I’ll no longer work on the bot.
However, I do have some good news. I’m currently cleaning up the source code and adding additional comments to make everything understandable. As soon as this is process is finished I’ll put the source code on GitHub, it is a wonderful site for open source projects and it allows other developers to easily create their own version of the bot. I recommend all developers to create an account and have a look at the source code when it is available.

The https (ssl) update was originally planned at the end of March but for some reason they decided to postpone it. If the Grepolis developers release the https update after I have published everything on GitHub I’ll still fix it, you don’t have to worry about that πŸ˜‰ However, after that I hope other developers continue the development.

ps. Because the strong decrease in donations and because it is hardΒ  to keep track of this after stopping the development I’ll enable the “donator only” – features for everyone before moving the source code to GitHub.

    When????????? O_O’

    1. I’ll publish the source code on GitHub this month I think, however it depends on the https implementation how long I’ll update the bot.

I hope there are some other developers who are interested and want to continue this project.

They pushed the https implementation today it seems..

Do you have any intel on when are you going to upload it, I am for one kinda curious to see the code + looking if I am able to go through with this program.

Also not a paying person, so enabling that option would come in handy to already getting used to that part which is closed for me now currently.

Goodluck on your further endevours in real-life though!

    1. Only the beta server uses https since a week or two (and it is still optional).
Did you noticed https on any other server?

I don’t have an exact date yet when the source code will be available.

Thanks for your great work. I learned alot from your source codes.
Will you start some other new projects?

    1. Your welcome, feel free to fork the project on GitHub to continue with your own version.
I’m not planning to start any new projects at the moment.

      Yesss!! Many thanks Uthar!

I think you should open an online “game hacking” unicersity! Why work for someone else when you can do what you like doing, have fun and make money!? πŸ™‚

For about a wek or so I’ve been looking at Sparta:War of Empires (it’s a facebook game). Looks like Grepolis on steroids, lol… it does miss some of Grepolis’ core strategy functions but makes for it with awesome graphics and it has many other interesting features which Grepolis does not have. In short – a nice game to look at for all grepolis fans..

AI also looked at the packets in wireshare… they are encrypted πŸ™ Any advice how would one go about decoding/hacking such a game? I don’t really want to cheat – I just want to be able to get all the Market offers for Articles so I can chain-match my trade offers.. soemthing which should have been a feature of the game really but it itsnt…

Anyway once again many thanks for your work on this excellent tool and good luck with your real-life projects
